Mia Mala McDonald is a Photographer based in Melbourne, Australia.
Mia’s photographs have appeared in the pages of The New York Times, Frankie, Yen, Dumbo Feather, Vice, No, Girls Like Us and Dazed and Confused, to name a few. Clients include Victorian Tourism, Meredith Music Festival, Boags, EMI, Mushroom Records, Little Hero, Network Ten and New York Fashion Week.
Mia’s previous solo exhibitions include Indigenous Women Telling Stories, Don’t Forget To Water The Plants, Girls Kick Balls and most recently, Thread.
Mia’s work encapsulates the detail and beauty of the minutia: the moments, objects and feelings that are often forgotten, hidden or discarded. Her relationship with the subject is as important as the photograph itself, always striving for honest, intimate and unguarded insights.
Most recently, Mia completed her first music video as Cinematographer for CocoRosie.
